Victoria Crone and Suse Reynolds Join Creative HQ’s Board of Directors

Creative HQ, Wellington’s startup base, has appointed two new directors to its Board – Victoria Crone of Xero and Suse Reynolds of Angel Association New Zealand.

Both Suse and Victoria bring diversity, perspective and enthusiasm to the board, says Creative HQ CE Stefan Korn. “We are privileged to have business leaders of such high esteem join us in our goal of making New Zealand the startup hub of the Southern Hemisphere.”

Currently the managing director of Xero, Victoria Crone has nearly 20 years of experience in the communications and IT sector, covering wide range of functional areas – strategy, product, marketing, sales, channels, business development, customer services, communications and brand.

“New Zealand is such an exciting place for entrepreneurs and startups.  I’m thrilled to be working with the amazing team at Creative HQ and the community they are working so hard to nurture to success, whether that’s within NZ or on the world stage,” says Crone.

Suse Reynolds is the Executive Director of the New Zealand Angel Association and co-founder of Angel HQ, the Wellington regions angel network. Suse has always been driven by her passion to see New Zealanders and New Zealand products and services make their mark on the world. In previous roles she has worked in economic development, been a free trade proponent and had a 10 year career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade which included working for the Foreign Minister and a posting in London.

“I am a huge believer in the power of generosity and making smart connections,” says Reynolds. “People get excited about the power of capital, especially in angel investment, but its generosity – sharing knowledge, experience and making smart connections -that propels ventures to success. I know Creative HQ does this well and I’m looking forward to being part of the support crew.”

In addition to these new appointees, Creative HQ’s board includes Gerard Quinn, Barry Brooke, Nick Lewis and Brett Holland.

Chair Gerard Quinn says that “It is fantastic to have people of the calibre of Victoria and Suse sharing their knowledge, strategic nouse and networks with Creative HQ and its client startups. At the same time, I would like to thank Nick Lewis, who will leave the board in February, for his invaluable contributions over the last several years.”

Since 2003, Creative HQ has supported and mentored hundreds of entrepreneurs as they build startup ideas into global businesses. Collectively, these alumni companies contribute over $20m in annual revenues to the Wellington region and employ over 100 FTE staff. Creative HQ’s alumni ventures include, SilverStripe, Dash Tickets, De Nada Clothing and Gecko Press.

Creative HQ operates as a not for profit enterprise funded by Grow Wellington, the local Economic Development Agency and Callaghan Innovation and other commercial sponsors.
